Hello, I’m Emily.
I am a licensed massage therapist, registered yoga teacher, and the owner and sole practitioner of E. Ruth Wellness Massage.
I am passionate about helping people feel better in their bodies. Our bodies have an incredible ability to recover from both physical and emotional stress, and my goal is to support clients through this process. I use techniques that encourage the body’s natural restorative capabilities to heal and strengthen, and I also encourage clients to be active participants in their therapy. Years of practice have shown me that awareness of one’s body is empowering—it provides the tools to respond proactively to stress and support long-term change.
As both therapist and owner, I am present for every aspect of your massage therapy experience. I invite you to learn more about E. Ruth Wellness Massage below or reach out by phone or email.
style & techniques
Therapy at E. Ruth goes beyond a standard massage. Discomfort often has multiple causes—injury, posture, stress, daily activities, and more. I take time with each client before a session to discuss needs and goals, and I welcome feedback to further support your therapy.
During sessions, I observe, assess, and explore limitations or imbalances in muscles and fascia that may cause discomfort or restrict movement. My techniques help muscles relax and fascial tissue to loosen and glide, supporting the body’s natural processes.
I also encourage body awareness. This may include focusing on the breath or following guided movements. Staying engaged physically and mentally strengthens the brain-to-muscle connection, extends the benefits of therapy beyond our sessions, and helps break habits that cause discomfort while building new muscle memory for long-term relief.
My approach works with the body rather than forcing through tissues, using pressure ranging from gentle to firm while always prioritizing comfort. Trained in a variety of massage and bodywork styles, I blend techniques to meet each client’s needs, making every session personalized and unique.
background & experience
My interest in massage began in 2010, after a craniosacral session left me feeling deeply restored and at peace. That experience showed me that healthcare isn’t just about fixing problems—it can also support what’s already right in the body. Inspired to share that perspective, I enrolled in the 1,000-hour Extended Massage Therapy program at the Cortiva Institute in Seattle, training in Swedish, myofascial, neuromuscular, orthopedic, and structural bodywork techniques.
Since opening E. Ruth in 2012, I’ve continued expanding my training with intraoral endorsement, craniosacral therapy, and yoga teacher training. My practice has moved through Seattle, Edmonds, and now Mountlake Terrace, where I remain dedicated to helping clients ease tension, improve mobility, and reconnect with their bodies.
I am also committed to making massage accessible beyond the treatment room. I’ve volunteered at community fairs and fundraising events, and I welcome opportunities to bring massage into assisted living communities, wellness programs, and other community settings.
